Colonial Secretary's office Victoria Story May 8 June 1885m

Sir,

I have the honor to acknowledge receipt of your letter 1.92 of the 4th June 2, and to acquaint you that a copy of the same will be forwarded to the R. [Starkie?] the Secretary of State for the Colonies by the mail of next month.

I have further to inform you, by direction of the Lieutenant Governor, that your application for House rents, as contained in your letter & 73 of the February, was forwarded to the Stone Government by the Mail of the 30th April last.

I have the honor to be, Sir, your obedient servant,

Cecila Watkins kn

Harbor Master

To W.J. Muren Esqr Colonial Secretary

Mem

On the 17 of May 1855 the Colonial Secretary, put into my hand (in his Office) for perusal, a letter from the Secretary of State for the Colonies (Sir R. Molesworth) dated 19 April 1855, referring to a Dispatch from Lord John Russell the Governor of Hong Kong dated 25 June 1855, 1.23, in which authority was given to provide the Harbor master with a house, or an equivalent for one; and directing that the instructions contained in his Lordship's letter were to be carried out - this was the first intimation I had received of any answer to my applications of the 4th April 1855.

June 1855 4:32 No official Information was ever communicated to me on the subject, as it ought to have been; but, from having seen Sir R. Molesworth's letters I was induced, after waiting a month for some official notification, to address the Colonial Secretary on the subject.

Harbor Master's Office Hong Kong 18 January 1856

Sir,

With reference to your letter

To J.J. Muren Esqr Colonial Secretary
